As for "Rheingold's site"...there's no such thing as Rheingold making BMW software. BMW makes BMW software and distributes it. Just because the company name is Rheingold doesn't make it authentic. That said, Rheingold is not for coding. Its for diagnostics and programming for F series and beyond, which isn't the same as coding with NCS Expert.

Im sure you could find these for free somewhere but i just paid for it. ISTA + with one click installer so its easy to get setup. ive been having issues getting it to connect to my car but i was trying on an e91 so not sure if that is the reason why.

All Rheingold versions have native support for Ediabas 7.x, this option just needs to be activated from istagui config file. I can check the parameter later. This means that K+DCAN can be used directly with Rheingold, as long as the Ediabas (which comes with BMW Standard Tools) is configured for this interfaces.

ISTA D/Rheingold Registry License String Value/Format?
hello fellow bimmerfesters! hope one of you with a working ISTA D install can send along the data value (or at least the format) for the License String located (on my Windows 7 laptop) at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BMWGroup\ISPI\Rheingold. as shown in attached screenshot the data value appears to be in an XML format.
